About the Event
The HIRE19 Conference in San Francisco was a unique event that brings together thought leaders, recruiters, vendors, hiring managers, investors to the tech capital of the world to define the future of recruiting. The conference had experienced 3X year-over-year growth, solidifying its spot as the premiere talent acquisition industry event and growing the Hiring Success community globally.
Previously she was the Talent Acquisition Leader at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). She led JPL’s recruiting team in the continuous recruitment of talent, from early career to senior level positions, in the areas of engineering, science, and business operations.
Prior to joining JPL she enjoyed a wealth of experiences at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, GE Aviation, Raytheon, Honda, and Nationwide. Her 20+ years of experience have allowed her to learn and thrive in a variety of industries and corporate environments. She’s been fortunate to lead and be a member of recruiting teams that sought to recruit the best and brightest engineering talent. One of her most rewarding and challenging assignments occurred while working at Raytheon as the Recruiting and Diversity Manager for Raytheon Polar Services. The Polar Services team, assigned to the primary contract for National Science Foundation, staffed all program positions at the headquarters location in Denver, CO along with contractors deployed to Antarctica: Palmer Station, McMurdo Station, and South Pole. Kimberly successfully completed a 6 week deployment to Antarctica including time spent at South Pole. While at Nationwide she was responsible for managing internship programs for United Negro College Fund, INROADS, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, and the Tom Joyner Foundation.
Lou is the author of the Amazon top-10 best-seller, Hire With Your Head (John Wiley & Sons, 3rd Edition, 2007) and The Essential Guide for Hiring & Getting Hired (Workbench Media, 2013). Lou has been featured on Fox News and his articles and posts can be found on Inc. Magazine, BusinessInsider, Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal.
Prior to his executive search experience. Lou held senior operations and financial management positions at the Allen Group and at Rockwell International's automotive and consumer electronics groups. He holds an MBA from UCLA and a BS Engineering from Clarkson University.
As a tenured practitioner, he addresses diversity strategy through the leadership lens. Engagements range from surgically sourcing and securing high impact talent, curating conversations around bias/race and inclusion in the workplace, to setting strategy for internal recruiting teams.
His efforts are focused on empowerment, strategic exploration, and tactical execution as workforce composition (2020) and ethnic composition (2030) continue to shift. Torin masterfully socializes the diversity effort and produces outcomes of efficiency, cost savings, and value.
