About the conference
Android Dev Summit 2019 was a great place to learn new Android development skills, shared feedback and ideas with the Android engineering team, and connected with Android developers from around the globe.
For two days developers shared a deep technical talks covering topics such as Jetpack, Android Studio, Android Q, Kotlin, and more. Also they spoke about the latest innovations straight from the Android engineering team, discovered best practices to help build even better apps, and accelerated teams’ productivity on Android.
I spend a lot of my development time contributing to open source projects, mostly started by myself. All of these projects can be found from my GitHub profile. The most recognised being my two Pull-to-refresh libraries, which are being used by apps such as Foursquare, Runkeeper, Groupon, Soundcloud and Snapchat, amongst others. http://github.com/chrisbanes
I also maintain a blog on my website containing #AndroidDev related tips and tricks, and explaining more advanced topics. http://chris.banes.me
My most notable app personally published is Friendcaster for Android, a Facebook Android application I started developing in July 2010 and continued until May 2011 when it was acquired by Handmark. At it's peak, Friendcaster was ranked as a top 125 App in the US Android Market, and has had over 6.5 million downloads to date.
