About the conference

The Transformative Technology Conference is the only conference focused on tech for mental health, emotional wellbeing, and human flourishing. They sit at the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, tech, entrepreneurship, and innovation. They leverage exponential technologies like AI, AR/VR/XR, networks and sensors, biotech, neurofeedback, robotics and more to build tech to enable human wellbeing at scale. In 2019  the 5th annual, two-day conference offered a combination of keynotes and panels alongside hands-on demos of cutting edge tech.

Ed Boyden

Co-Founder at Elemind, Inc.
Prof. Ed Boyden completed his undergraduate degrees in Physics and Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and a Master of Engineering at MIT. He committed to his pre-doctoral studies as a fellow at the Departments of Neurobiology and Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Stanford University. Prof. Boyden joined MIT as Assistant Professor at the Media Lab and the Department of Biological Engineering in 2007.

Bea Arthur

Founder and CEO at The Difference
Bea Arthur, LMHC is a Columbia University-trained psychotherapist, startup founder, and speaker who works with high-performance individuals in high-pressure work environments. Her career lives at the intersection of psychology and technology and her third company, The Difference, provides on-demand access to therapy as Amazon's first mental health Alexa Skill.

Additionally, Bea was the first African-American female founder in Y Combinator and was named an Entrepreneur to Bet On by Newsweek Magazine as well as one Bumble’s 100 Most Inspirational New Yorkers. She is also an editorial contributor and host for ForbesWomen, where she hosts Office Hours, a career therapy digital series providing intra-praneurship advice to upwardly mobile women in today’s hottest companies.

Achin Bhowmik

CTO & EVP of Engineering at Starkey
Dr. Achin Bhowmik is the chief technology officer and executive vice president of engineering at Starkey Hearing Technologies, a privately-held medical devices business with over 6,000 employees and operations in over 100 countries worldwide. In this role, he is responsible for the company’s technology strategy, research, product development and engineering departments, and is leading the drive to transform hearing aids into multifunction wearable health devices with advanced sensors and artificial intelligence technologies.

Prior to joining Starkey, Dr. Bhowmik was vice president and general manager of the Perceptual Computing Group at Intel Corporation. There, he was responsible for the R&D, engineering, operations, and businesses in the areas of 3D sensing and interactive computing, computer vision and artificial intelligence, autonomous robots and drones, and immersive virtual and merged reality devices. Previously, he served as the chief of staff of the Personal Computing Group, Intel’s largest business unit with >$30B annual revenues in 2010.

Dr. Bhowmik is an adjunct professor at Stanford University, where he advises research and teaches courses in the areas of multisensory cognition enabled by perceptual computing and artificial intelligence.
