Headliners

Miles McBain

Statistician / Developer at Queensland Fire and Emergency Services
As an Applied Statistician I combine a theoretical statistical knowledge and computing expertise to help organisations understand their core business and their customers.

I am a hacker at heart, which I channel into regular contributions to the open source and open science communities.

In addition to commercial projects I am always interested in small data/statistics consulting jobs for start-ups and non-for-profits that enable me to expand my applied experience in areas such as as A/B testing, experimental design, and statistical power analysis. I do this mainly for the thrill of learning new domains and the opportunity to meet interesting people. Feel free to contact me if this is you.

Thomas Lin Pedersen

Visualisations, Tools and Frameworks at RStudio, Inc.
I am a food scientist turned bioinformatician and data scientist. My professional goal is to create tools that let researchers connect with their data in a deeper and more meaningful way, through visualisations, frameworks and user interfaces.

I have strong experience within proteomics, comparative genomics and transcriptomics and I'm an expert R programmer with numerous software packages published through CRAN and Bioconductor. Have a look at my GitHub page to get an overview of my current and past projects.

Jenny Bryan

Software engineer at RStudio
Jenny is a software engineer on the tidyverse team. She is a recovering biostatistician who takes special delight in eliminating the small agonies of data analysis. Jenny is known for smoothing the interfaces between R and spreadsheets, web APIs, and Git/GitHub. She’s been working in R/S for over 20 years and is a member of the R Foundation. She also serves in the leadership of rOpenSci and Forwards and is an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia.
