About the Event

Fundraising is hard. Finding trainings that are applicable in the real world and figuring out how to use them without unlimited staff and budget is even harder. So we set out to create a fundraising conference that empowers those of us who fight “other duties as assigned” in order to do the one thing we love: telling stories and building relationships with donors.

But recently, the world turned on it's collective head - and COVID-19 has thrown nonprofits for a loop. Uncertainty in uncharted territory has fundraising leaders needing help, direction, motivation and the tools to get through this global pandemic.

In person events, for the forseeable future, are on hold. And nonprofits need help NOW - not in July as originally planned.

So we made a massive pivot - and are producing this event online.

Not only can we reach more individuals who are looking for answers but we added incredible speakers, and amazing perks to help support local restaurants, small businesses, artists and musicians!

Vu Le writes the blog NonprofitAF.com. He is the founder and former executive director RVC, a leadership and capacity building organization focused on supporting leaders and organizations of color.

Patrick Kirby

Founder at Do Good Better Consulting
Patrick Kirby is the founder of Do Good Better Consulting, author of the Amazon best seller Fundraise Awesomer! a practical guide to staying sane while doing good, host of the official Do Good Better podcast, and a believer that “We’ve always done it this way” is the most dangerous phrase in the English language. Patrick has spent nearly fifteen years working as a fundraiser in the nonprofit industry, for organizations of all shapes and sizes, and strives to ‘Do Good Better’ every day. From organizing $10,000 cure walks to $1 million galas, Patrick’s passion lies in creating creative solutions to make fundraising less boring. He earned his B.A. in “B.S.” (politics) at Loras College in Dubuque, IA, and is hopelessly addicted to super nerdy Sci-Fi Fantasy novels and old school Squaresoft® RPG Nintendo games. Patrick married out of his league to his wife Shannon, has three ridiculously adorable children named Spencer, Preston and Willow, and l ives in West Fargo, ND.

Joan Garry

CEO at Joan Garry Consulting
Nonprofits are messy. I learned this the hard way after I switched careers, either having a midlife crisis or avoiding one, and was named the Executive Director of GLAAD, one of the largest gay rights organizations in the U.S.

When I joined GLAAD I found an organization in deep financial crisis. I led it out of the depths to a place of prominence focusing on the power of the media to change hearts and minds. I was a successful nonprofit CEO and I loved it. But it was what I learned that was the greatest gift – what it means to manage and motivate people not drawn to work by their year end bonuses, how to engage people, how to build consensus and how to raise money.

Today I bring all of this knowledge and expertise about nonprofit leadership to Joan Garry Consulting. I focus on untangling the knots that stand between nonprofit organizations and the fulfillment of their missions. My blog for nonprofit board and staff leaders reaches 100,000 unique leaders monthly and my podcast, Nonprofits Are Messy, is frequently the #1 nonprofit / government podcast on iTunes. I am also the founder of The Nonprofit Leadership Lab, a monthly online membership site for board and staff leaders of small nonprofits who cannot afford coaching or consulting.

Don't miss out!
This year, we are featuring some of the baddest ass female leaders in the nonprofit world to share their stories on how they are tackling the old-gaurd and good ol' boys club in the world of philanthropy. The panel will be facilitated by Fargo-Moorhead's own Ladybossses, Danyel Moe and Laura Caroon. It is sure to be an eye opening and amazing conversation - where you are encouraged to engage with questions!
