About the Event
The backbone of the R language is its community of users, contributors and supporters. The open source ethos of this community propels the language forward with thousands of add-on packages and a helpful, welcoming environment. All around the world R practitioners hold meetups where knowledge is shared and relationships are formed.
The New York R Meetup is the world’s largest, with over 10,000 members, covering topics including data science, visualization and machine learning in R and also Python and Julia - to further foster the community and serve as a fun gathering place where people can learn from so many luminaries in an intimate setting.
Megan Robertson is a Senior Data Scientist at Nike. She has multiple years of experience applying data science in retail settings. She first became interested in math and statistics through sports analytics, and wrote her Master's thesis in collaboration with an NBA team. Her background includes training in Bayesian methodology, statistical modeling, machine learning and more. Megan has delivered multiple talks on various aspects of data science from building a career and project management to writing code and more.
Danielle Kerani Oberdier founded her media company DiKayo Data in September 2019 to merge her background in journalism from Northwestern University and data science experience, both in industry and academia. Danielle holds an MBA from Tulane University and continues to call New Orleans home following her graduation.
