About the Event
The Cardano Summit 2021 took place online over two days but also included ‘watch parties’ in New York, Miami, Wyoming, Berlin, Cape Town, London, and in more than 40 community hubs.
The summit consisted of talks, presentations, and demos from Cardano leaders and luminaries, including Gillian Tett from The Financial Times and Monty Mountford from The Economist.
In the lead-up, to the event 25 speaker packs were sent across the world. Also, 130 presentations, talks, and lectures were pre-recorded in studios, edited, uploaded to the platform, and streamed from Wyoming to over 140,000+ users. across 180+ countries. The First Event team also provided technical support to the users 24 hours a day across the summits two days.
Charles Hoskinson is a Colorado-based technology entrepreneur and mathematician. He attended Metropolitan State University of Denver and University of Colorado Boulder to study analytic number theory before moving into cryptography through industry exposure.
His professional experience includes founding three cryptocurrency-related start-ups – Invictus Innovations, Ethereum and IOHK – and he has held a variety of posts in both the public and private sectors. He was the founding chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation’s education committee and established the Cryptocurrency Research Group in 2013.
His current projects focus on educating people about cryptocurrency, being an evangelist for decentralization and making cryptographic tools easier to use for the mainstream. This includes leading the research, design and development of Cardano, a third-generation cryptocurrency that launched in September 2017, which now has hundreds of projects being built on the Cardano network.
As Executive Vice President of Boost Mobile, Stephen is responsible for sales, marketing, go-to-market strategy, and operations of the Boost business. Stephen is an accomplished executive, entrepreneur, and investor who has driven revenue and user growth across both Fortune 500 and start-up environments. Most recently, Stephen served as co-founder and CEO of mobile carrier FreedomPop. In this capacity, he raised over $120 million in financing and built FreedomPop into one of the fastest-growing mobile carriers before selling it in 2019. Stephen earned numerous industry awards for his innovation and disruptive impact on the wireless market and was named the Wireless Industry’s most innovative executive in 2017 and E&Y’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018.
Prior to FreedomPop, Stephen founded Woo Media, where he built one of the internet's largest and most innovative interactive video communications companies. Stephen turned Woo Media into a multi-million-dollar revenue stream, selling it in November 2011. Stephen started his career at Accenture and was elevated into his first executive leadership role in 2004, when he was promoted to VP of eBusiness at Qwest Communications. He went on to build a track record of bringing innovation, disruption, and growth at the Fortune 500 level. He spent three years as British Telecom’s SVP of Strategy and Product Development, where he led all consumer product innovation.
Chris Ergen works in international business development for DISH. He has extensive experience in satellite communications, mobile connectivity, and pay television around the globe. He is an advocate for consistent and inclusive connectivity.
Chris is an active supporter of the arts where he has collaborated on projects ranging from placing art on spacecraft to producing festivals. He is also an angel investor and an innovation advisor to start-ups.
