Data Science is rapidly evolving as an essential interdisciplinary field, where advances often result from combinations of ideas from several disciplines. This conference, to be hosted annually by Rice University, is for professionals and practitioners working in machine learning, deep learning, data mining, artificial intelligence, or big data problems broadly. Recognizing that discovery and innovation happen at interfaces of disciplines and communities, the conference aims to bring together a diverse set of people from multiple communities spanning academia and industry.

Natalie Berestovsky

Data Scientist at Anadarko
Natalie Berestovsky is a data scientist in Anadarko’s AAET team (Advanced Analytics and Emerging Technology). Natalie has earned her Bachelor’s in computer science from University of Texas at Austin and her Master’s and a PhD in computer science from Rice University. Her graduate research focus was in bioinformatics in Luay Nakhleh’s group. She worked closely with MD Anderson Cancer Research Center to create models for cellular biochemical processes. After graduation, Natalie joined oil and gas industry, initially working in the area of reservoir simulation, and later joining newly created data science team. With the 7+ years of experience in oil and gas, Natalie has been working as a data scientist for the past 4 years addressing a variety different problems in the industry. In her every day job as a data scientist, Natalie works closely with subject matter experts to understand business problems and convert them into the data science projects. She develops solutions using most appropriate data science techniques and helps to deploy it to the users in a scalable and efficient way using latest available technology.

Roy Keyes

Head of Data Science at Arundo Analytics
Roy Keyes leads Arundo's Houston-based data science team, which works on data science projects with customers in heavy industry as well as helping Arundo build its software for productionizing and scaling data science solutions. Before he started at Arundo in 2016, Roy worked as a data scientist primarily with technology startups in San Francisco. He has a BS in Physics from Rice University and a PhD in Physics from the University of New Mexico.
