Blue everybody and welcome to the inaugural edition of real cam ly I got to tell you how excited I am to be here today and believe it or not this the show is 19 years in the making is real-time 2001. We had a little boots and a webcam. We actually did a live webcast from the show Glee all of three people in the back room watching to avoid for father. We are staffed. It's amazing to see how the technology has evolved over the years. And I think we're finally at a point with the technology in the market is caught up and we're excited to bring this Weekly
News series to this new show is really designed to bring The Cutting Edge topics that are seeing happened during the week and to get to Walmart to talk casually and formally about what was happening in the real estate Tech Innovation world. So really looking forward to see how the show evolves over the You must and what's really important that we get your feedback dirt questions your issue and, if something isn't working on Route rapley expecting to have some time at the problem. That's what the problem that's pretty
normal. But we're looking to hear from you is what topics you want to hear about what's on your mind help us make the show better your engagements. So before we actually get started with our first episode, I'd like to take a moment today is a pretty special day and I'd like to take a moment to remember all those people who died on September 11th, and especially those Left Behind the family in the friends with live with this for the last number of years and an N will never forget. So mm you lost your life and thoughts and prayers are with you and the family members and Friends
Associates as well. All right with that let's move on to the first episode of this real, So we decided that the topic for today is going to be about the hybrid event that we're going to be doing in the end of October. And as most of you know, first week of March things changed for all of us and we like many I'm wanted to are needed to figure out where we were going with a conference schedule in June wasn't going to happen when I tell people we went through a number of phases the first one shot and we went to
Clarity taking action, but most importantly we have just Haley and the reason we decided to go with a hybrid of that was on we are in the built environment. We wanted to make sure that we did everything we could help out on this we get back in the building safely top of them. So the hybrid event is going to consist of a very robust virtual platform. Transition to a physical event in Denver Colorado off of which will be broadcasting the virtual platform, but we are going to attempt to get a small number nothing like we saw in Nashville last year
back into this building safely so we can learn and I will tell you what we have learned in the last Sushi made the decision to go to 21-20. What we have learned has been incredibly forced us to leaning try to figure this all these things out. What is a hype. What does it mean? What is the technology and NPS? I believe that in the future hybrid is going to be the way it's going to be done because when we all come with conferences to physical events, we leave a number of people home and they don't get to participate. So it's forcing us to figure out how do we outfit the conference
room at the hotel what type of technology is needed for the virtual and the on-site and we're going to make lots of mistakes. We know that but we figured let's get going with star. Now the next year we're going to have a whole bunch of experience under our belt and we're going to help me in the street and I'll learn how we get back into everything filled it with that. I would like to bring in Howard Howard has been running our program for 20 plus years. Nobody better knows everything about what's going on out there Howard March 1st, we're
ready to go pro trim button up and then boom he got hit Top exchange issues James just a little idea what you're going through the program together for this event. Thanks Jim. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's going to be different this year. We put together a conference program in one very wide when I dizzying array of Technology topics over usually like over a hundred seventy-five session. Sometimes 250-plus speakers in the live setting was pretty doable. Now this year's
It's a hybrid event, but because of travel bans and quarantines in in in short budgets, the program emphasis is really going to be on the virtual side instrumental. This is new to all of us. We're literally Reinventing ourselves, but overall we decided to go big on the program and I'll get I'll give you a little preview kickoff at our usual pre-conference. That's our commercial corporate cybersecurity former CEO Roundtable of CEO Cielo CFO Innovation Forum smart building integrator Summit in Elgin building bootcamp Property Management Tech
& Innovation Forum in each of these is going to offer both traditional meetings as well. As a lot of very topic Center Center small group iTouch breakouts and round tables following the freak on we're going to have five confirmed tracks including continuous Tech briefings on the latest Enterprise and smart building in code the 50in virtual smart building tours over all combined. I say we're going to have a B plus virtual education events with over a hundred 25 speaker small of the world has been a
challenge user experience is very very important and very depends on the technology platforms not I believe we invested in the best. We know Zoom fatigue is an issue for us. Also the learning curve for us was needed to go through a very painful processor literally Reinventing ourselves, but the good news is I think we figured out a lot of the shortfalls in Virtual platform on user experience and how to facilitate better human human engagement. I think I found a platform that delivers on all
kinds. Play Howard opportunities I see is is that we get to read speakers all of the world to me. We had a large Zoo coming in around the world, but I'm really allows us to tap and select couldn't attend the conference early days. We were we looked at a lot of platforms and texting this and chatting that really didn't get the job done. So, I believe the plan is going to take that engagement to another level but we made modifications right where we actually are heading more video Windows
install to allow people to feel more like they're in the room. I know it's not going to be perfect. But we're trying our best. You know, of course virtual events going to be Monday through Wednesday, then we're going to pick up at the live event Wednesday through Friday going to have its own program to feel like being more like being in the middle of a living breathing case study where everybody's together will be Mass socially distance and we can be figuring out all the processing technologies that really helped us a free
occupied buildings at the scale. But also a very interactive immersive experience for some Poppins tomorrow or next year and that's why I really want to make a decision to go to court to try to figure out what does it feel like with a hundred people. However, many people show up right because it's going to be steps to get us back to something that even looks like normal and in why wait why not try to figure that out now, I think I know there was a key. I mean we wanted to continue
the conversation we had over the past twenty-two years, but Important we decide to take a leadership role be first in the real estate industry to really leaned in and figure out how to hold a hybrid event in the process. And I think you're going to like incitement. We're going to Great Lengths to make sure this is safe and healthy. In fact, I Believe In some cases were going to set new standards or what is it? Take to bring people back into a building safely. I agree. I think we're
more about what's going on in this industry at my pain than anybody to talk to everybody want to say thank you and great job sponsorship exhibitor sales for over 15 years on Lisa little different. You've been going through the last three months and what we can expect. Thanks World Gym is not the conference is definitely not going to look like last year and Nashville. That's for sure. I mean if you remember last year, we had twenty-six hundred attendees. We had over 200 exhibitors. We were in a Convention Center in the vibrant area in downtown Nashville. The
exhibit there is going to be a little bit different but we're really excited about moving forward and you know, I'm continuing to push the envelope for the virtual exhibits Laura kick-off Monday like you said and it's really going to be unique the real, my vikan conference. I'm always in addition to our strong educational program, you know is always been known for having an amazing dinner community and this year is no exception. So in our virtual event exhibit hall, we're going to be featuring over a hundred of the most exciting and Innovative
companies in the industry. These are organizations that you never thought leaders in our in our space and it instrumental. Solving problems for the real estate community and some of those Technologies for familiar with you know, the cyber security and wireless communication occupancy tracking and property Investment Management energy data. Analytics are smart Building Solutions. But new this year is a host of interesting supposed Tech applications as well. The exhibitors are in our exhibitors sponsorship showcase will be setting up these really unique and interactive virtual boots
experiences as well. They'll have the ability to talk to attendees one-on-one the platform that we selected allows them to provide videos interviews blogs as part of a specially curated playlist. I'll be hosting Round Table discussions around the number of relevant topics exhibitors were also be able to post and make available client Chase studies and host happy hours. All sorts of cool stuff is going to be happening inside those virtual boost. What's a good Bible is weed? A lot of video capacity right B building to have conversations like conversation with
fraction in the engagement and and the ability to it's a really put a lot of resources in front of attendees that you know, even in the physical environment. They wouldn't necessarily have been trying to play around the idea of if somebody can't make it to the event physically on the inside part. What is a virtual boot look like I'm telling you that the last part of that place that process has the flexibility of the strategy changes a little bit every 24 hours and keep up with these changes.
This has been a year of a lot of first so, you know on the on-site side at the Gaylord Rockies Resort in Denver. We're going to have the on-site Conference of course and there will have 50 companies which will be exhibiting in our in our Expo area there the floor we designed for social distancing. We're not going to put up pipe and drape West Indies can flow more freely, you know throughout the space and they can move through the area's smoothly everything is going to be set up in one room and think you mentioned that will be practicing all
the cleaning and sanitizing protocols and you know, all the protective Sun the safeguards will be observed for the conference. One thing that's going to another first job is that we'll be showcasing their some of the new Innovative Co the technology we're coming back in the building. So I think Howard mentioned something but we'll be seeing it an actual you so it's going to be really interesting to see to see how those work and and and what it looks. I can and what the end result is the
times that we figure out how to read literally the whole world transformed in four to five months to figure this stuff up make a point to everybody that's in this hybrid event. We are on we plan from the beginning to be able to change at the very last minute. So there is a small probability that the supply in Denver doesn't happen. If there's an outbreak over the whole situation has been the worst and so that's the reality we deal with Mom, but the bottom line is it is a
plant and you have two things things, please you got an option b c d and e Industrial multi-family retail. This is the kind of things we have to fight for your response. It's it's going to be interesting. It's it's going to be you know, something we've never done before we never done a hybrid before we've never done a virtual conference before but you know, if we've learned anything in the last four to five months, it's you got to be agile. You've got to be able to have the
ability to Pivot at any given moment because it seemed like every day seems like every day something new comes our way and and things are changing almost all the time even daily sometimes but by the minute though, it's the Thailand and just keeping it together because you're a lot that. We're in this together and it's really true but we have to figure it out and we'll figure it out together. So standing you're working with us and I just want to say thank you all for 22 years of phenomenal support our final words of wisdom. What can we expect in the program? Well, it's a it's a
pride program. I think we would we spent a good deal of the year so far selecting what we think are the you know, the the topics of important. I want to I want to shout out to all of our advisors 150 advisors and all of the content contributors from around the world who I really believe represent some of the best thinking in class and who are contributing to this to this program. One of our goals has been to of course, you can't simulate the feeling of being a nurse in a session run with live speakers,
but one of our goals was it was really to offer the opportunity to create account of that fluid learning environment, but also have the opportunity for folks who are attending to actually feel like they are engaged in that process, which I think this year is going to enable us to do Shout out to that tomorrow. I shall out to the community as well though, all of your end user Community are visors without you. We are nothing you have guided supported us help us are perfect use of Ben 23 years. This year is no different Specialties extreme circumstances cell from
Sydney to London to New York to LA and everything in between. I want to say thank you to all those folks grade assignments. Thank you so much for everything. You do after taking a few minutes out of your crazy day and we're going to let you go and make some time and head towards our next segment. And with that I'd like to show a commercial from one of our sponsors long life a long time supporter great supporter icon. Resin. cohnreznick advisory provides a dedicated to helping organizations address their unique challenges developing a breakthrough

Work side-by-side with advisers whose focus is fixed on building the future you demand for your visit long after the scope of work is complete. I'm going to bring in her to next gas stop the pain and Tom shirtless user to gentleman dedicated Professionals in our industry have done extraordinary things over there, but more specifically have done an extraordinary thing over the last couple months. So just give me a little
context decided we were going to have some type of a physical event combination with a virtual. We thought that we weren't going to just do an average child. We knew people specially New York City getting people back in the buildings with what can we do and where we actually 1/2 air conditioning ducts look thin air in elevators lifted touch points in literally sent a group of professionals into the facility to to come back with rack. Conditions of from your what we should do. To make this and not just this but useless as a pay study for buildings going for herself. First of all, John Linscott
Tom. I want to say thank you you jumped on an airplane from North Carolina to get to Denver Sky your local that's got rounded up of people's about 12 people and I think it was a bother you at 12 people on the ground. We had 16 people virtually watching you, ending asking questions. So let me start Scott with you you were there with what were you looking for? Why did we do this? Why did you think Well it really to really understand how we could have it in person conference. We needed to evaluate the facility and its current condition to really understand the infrastructure the
technologies that they had in place and so we weren't really there to evaluate the staff and the practices and in those kinds of hygiene standards for cleaning for example was really about the building infrastructure system. So we were looking at things like the heating and air conditioning systems the the ductwork as as you mentioned Jim and the Lighting systems the elevator some of these high touch points where people as they come and attend the conference will be interfacing with these core infrastructure systems so that the staff there at at at the
Gaylord were very accommodating and very knowledgeable and they have the latest technology really in their facility as it is a relatively new facility and so right now, The systems are predominantly configured as originally engineered which is more along the lines of Energy Efficiency. And there's some pretty simple things that will be talked about in just a couple minutes that can be implemented low or no-cost things that can be implemented to really help move the Paradigm from an Energy Efficiency standpoint to this tension that we bring in when we start talking about a focus
on public health 3 months to go 2 months to go whatever we knew we weren't going to get the Gaylord Marriott to make major radical shifts in a relatively, right and many of the building owners are now faced with challenges with leasing space and collecting rents in a lot of these things could be considered high-cost items to change. How do we deal with this tension between struggling with revenues and now having to invest in these facilities to make them safer for people to feel popping.
We can't hear Tom. Don't why we're waiting to get time back to Scotty want to take a stab at that? Yeah, it's there's this idea that it's going to cost money to implement a lot of these improvements and certainly there are investments with can be made with technologies that will help sanitize the environment or create a cleaner air delivery into the space has one of the things at that we realize is in order for people to re-enter. The spaces is in order for Lisa's and end in those things to be able to come through people need to feel safe coming back into building. So it's it's a
real double-edged sword. It's if if you don't the make the investment, you're not Camille to collect the leases and in ya So so that's a real struggle between the financial side of this and as I mentioned earlier, there's going to be some technologies that obviously we're not going to be able to implement by October. But the reality is we might daniff item. You guys have produced a stunning 16 page report that is in the final draft revisions were on the phone with the Marriott next week to prevent that report to them. I don't have any expectations are going to be
ripping out relatively new air condition system and making me suggestions, but the reality is we learned a lot and then that was the ability to 21 and wait for some magic bullet put to start getting on the ground now cuz I said metaphorically ripping ourselves or walking to air condition done quite a bit of the restrooms you weren't you literally walk the whole hotel trying to find some critical point so we can expensive things. And I'm Brian came up with five months has been identified
Technologies called and is as mentioned. These Technologies are going to be in Denver everything from a scanning device that looks at 4 for the goal measurements of your body temperature blood pressure give you a much more of a better reason somebody else and simply a thermal scanner aluminum has the capacity to to service testing and take a swab into a bathroom and determine if it's been on any legal services in the last couple weeks first ionization. There. There is an emerging group of technologies that was actually existed but not the code
three short months. We're going to literally have them there to talk about. So any final thoughts on what you saw at the hotel and what that report. I know somebody was all about. Yet believe that the conversation with with the Marriott. Next week is is going to be really informative and I think one of the things that they're going to really see is that there is a host in a whole Myriad of solutions which are available in there are no silver bullets. It's really a suite of solutions that can be all brought to bear. None of which are 100% effective on their own but
yet taken together and deployed we can really create a safe environment for people to come in and occupy a space in larger groups. And that's really what the focus for this team was it was interesting in this is analogous to Oldsmar buildings is that when you look at the silly like this or any commercial facility, you've got lots of existing digital systems. And so one of the things we were doing there and that we all do in the smart buildings. We get use cases out of those powerful existing digital systems and point
them at a new priority is priority public health, and I think that's going to be an effective way to get to the cost concerns your men earlier, so Guys again, I can't thank you enough for your commitment to Vision your time to do this. I'm really excited to get this document in the form that we can get it out the general public because as I said, we can't do this this week and this is the first step of a case study the figure out what can we practically doing these buildings to give people more toppings as it relates to health.
So half off the both of you you are leaders you are brave and I really want to commend you for leaning in and helping us with this project. So you have a wonderful day and thank you again right before this is going to be a weekly a part of our or webcast. It's called in the News Sherry Whitmore who has been with us over a year now and is in charge of Digital Media Services has taken on the task of aggravating the weekly news or proptech real estate technovation. That's been a fun in the process. We meet so many times a week will be allowed
technology helping us with it. Sure. You've done a wonderful job and congratulate. Why don't you give us a little idea what happened this week? Alright, so Brian if you want to just bring her we having technical difficulties, which I send the beginning. I'm sure we were going to that's why we work through Brian if you want just bring up the Weekly News brief screen. And then what I'm going to do is just going to give you an idea of each and every week we meet with that out an engine that Aggregates data or us new stories and we probably look it up a hundred different stories a week
that the that the system through algorithms rings in and then we apply a little bit of human elements this as well, which means we go to the stories and we pick out the ones that are as we say our in The Fosters burning while we can't totally rely on what the technology technology and the air was really simple the aggregate this news in such a way that busy busy people in. Quick last one so we can see stories relevant to them so that the criteria real estate technology Innovations smart building. We got lists and lists of words of these algorithms queue up on
humans that look through these lists and I was a hundred in there without the 20. I believe that we deliver anywhere from 8 to 10 articles each week usually stories self again Sherry. I know you can't hear me. But thank you so much for your efforts and pulling this together and I will be excited to hear from you next weekend cuz you're going to go to the top two or three stories of each week talk about what we sent out on the weekend. So we are coming close to ending our first episode of real time live. We hope you enjoyed it. We the
most of all we ought to give us feedback. Give us the ideas that the content questions the issues and and we will have access our Global Group of thought leaders to try to get these questions answered. Mom and I would like to leave you with a final thought we call it leaning in these are unprecedented time. These are difficult times and it's very easy to get caught in the fall and no one's expecting us to take 10 steps. But but we are hoping each and everyone of you will take one step and I'll give you a little example on each and every night to this. I try
to maintain some type of Fitness Gyms close. So I walk and I walk to our little village and I watch how the restaurants have been dealing with this at first. They were closed of course and then a minute they were available or allowed to take out the takeout signs going up and I noticed a fun restaurant did and some did not then all the sudden there was one umbrella outside in the report and then most recently one of my favorite and I talked to the owner last week and she said they're at full capacity. Mom didn't go from Mill close to full capacity and she's an
anomaly to be able to do that. She had a parking lot for the point was the Journey Back is one small step at a time. We know our in-person event is not going to be anywhere near what Nashville was we have no idea how many people are even going to be there. For those of you who feel safe and comfortable with the idea coming in have an accomplice. We're doing everything we can to make this a safe experience for you. So informally consider leading in the
small stuff you got ideas for a virtual my side of the event. Let us know sent us an email. We're here for you. We're here to serve you and we really really do appreciate you. So with that I would like to close the first official episode of real time live 19 years in the making and wish you all a very good day and don't disturb. I've let's all try to thrive in these difficult challenging times. What a great day.
