I have always been passionate about technology, business, and solving problems. I have been fortunate to have a career where I have been able to live this passion in a way that creates significant value for customers, shareholders, and employees. I love the speed, scale, and value creation of technology, especially in and around data and analytics.
I feel so fortunate that I have been able to work with incredible people who share this passion, and over the last decade we have built one of the best analytic data platforms and businesses in the world, Vertica. I have been leading and growing the Vertica organization globally since we were initially acquired by HP in 2011, and I have been with the company since its earliest days after I left Bessemer Venture Partners to actually help "build and sell" something tangible. From then until present Vertica has experienced several changes including spin-outs, mergers, and more, but through an outstanding team and focus continues to outperform.
I enjoyed my time in venture capital, and learned a lot from that vantage point about what it takes to identify top talent, great ideas, deal structure, and market opportunities that can win. I have seen the full spectrum of private equity investments having worked for Common Angels prior to business school, Summit Partners (late stage) during business school, and then ultimately Bessemer Venture Partners.
