After his time on the College of Florida, Sams grew to become the director of the HFL Sport Science Laboratory in Lexington, Kentucky. This laboratory was the official testing laboratory for the Kentucky Horse Racing Fee, the Indiana Racing Fee, the Maine Harness Racing Fee, the Virginia Racing Fee, the Puerto Rico Racing Authority, the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Fee, and the Trinidad & Tobago Racing Authority. Sams has held the position of the scientific director of KCA Laboratories, a hashish testing and analysis laboratory positioned in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Presently, Sams is serving on the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Affiliation of Racing Commissioners Worldwide, Inc. As well as, he has authored greater than 130 pee-reviewed scientific research.
