About talk

Topic: IT
Track: iOS

On Jan 6, 2016, Netflix expanded its service to nearly 200 countries, becoming the first truly global television network. The Netflix app for iOS is localized in 28 languages, and the developers' team is constantly working to refine the experience across a number of fronts. In his talk John will discuss how Netflix approaches: high-quality localization, dealing with hostile network conditions, A/B testing and more.

When did the clutter changed idea the God wish TV waiting for this report for a long time I'm sure that you have any medical report too. 00:09 So let's welcome John Fox from Netflix John. 00:17 Please you have the floor. 00:20 Hi OK, well, I have to get my bearings. 00:25 Here, a little bit. 00:27 Ann Yes, 00:27 my name is John Fox. 00:29 And, yes, I do come from Netflix and I'm concerned that the branding made a little bit off because Netflix to me sounds like Netflix. 00:30

So I'm going to have to change the name to it to like da flicks or something like that. 00:37 And there's something else that I need to say that this is the first time I've ever given a talk where their simultaneous interpretation. 00:43 So if you don't mind I have to do a little test to see how it's working out. 00:50 The Speaker is very smart. 00:54 The Speaker is very strong. 00:58 The speakers terribly handsome. 01:01 The Speaker is entirely modest. 01:01

OK, so the reason I did that is uh actually I did grow up. 01:08 I I was alive during the Cold War and there was always this phrase that was used trust, 01:11 but verify so afterwards. 01:15 I'll be listening to the tapes and see what the interpreter, 01:15 said, Alright, so let's see. 01:20 This should do it. 01:22 So the first thing I want to talk about is like? 01:22 What do I mean? 01:26

When I say a world friendly mobile app so the first thing says that it has to look and feel like it was made for each 01:26 country by People actually live there. 01:34 That's the first point and the second thing is that since it's mobile it has to work well in a wide variety of what you can only call hostile network 01:37 conditions. 01:45 So those are the 2 major themes going to be talking about and what I have to say is that we care about this a lot. 01:45

We sweat, these details. 01:53 And we're constantly refining it. 01:53 I tell you, it's not very easy to produce a quality product like that, 01:56
