About the talk

What does it take to migrate an on-premise data center with 100PB of Hadoop storage across >2500 servers and 170+ applications across 22 engineering teams in 5 time zones to the cloud in 12 months? To make something of this magnitude possible there is significant behind the scenes work required across a multitude of teams and departments in a company. How do you approach the financial, technical, political, logistical, governance and cultural (DevOps) dimensions of the challenge? Hear our story from the point-of-view of an executive stakeholder, an engineer, and a product manager. Each dimension of this story will provide insight into how we set up our team for success to deliver such a large project on an aggressive timeline. We’ll cover topics that focus on how we met the overall objective of aligning the business including; the DevOps model, how to determine who your stakeholders are and how to align them, financial considerations, product prioritization considerations, how to select and negotiate with your cloud provider and how you organize and track an ongoing migration.
