About the talk

Chasing the “American Dream,” many marketers, entrepreneurs, and professionals have spent incredible time and effort in pursuit of business success and professional achievement, only to find that, despite achieving it, they still feel unfulfilled and unhappy. In fact, the 2019 Marketer Happiness Report by MarketingProfs shows that only 10% of marketers say they are “very fulfilled.” Our current hustle culture clearly isn’t working, but we can do something about it. In this session, you’ll learn a process to establish work-life boundaries, insights on finding fulfillment and a sense of identity in things other than work, and hard, concrete steps you can take right now to find true happiness and success.

So I have a question for you today are you happy. 00:02 If you had asked me that great. 00:06 If you I'm glad to hear that if you would ask me, 00:08 this about 5 or 6 years ago, 00:11 I would have said. 00:12 I'm happy but things made me happy, events made me happy. 00:13 And so my story is I in 2005, 00:18 I left a promising software career. 00:21 Anne I hung out my shingle, 00:24 I started my business, I faced fear. 00:26 Anne I cofounded an agency and. 00:28

It's starting to grow never expected that at that point, 00:32 I was actually traveling about 1/4 of 1,000,000 miles a year. 00:34 I had 4 young children at the time and I just wanted to be home. 00:37 And then things started to take off. 00:41 And we start to add employees, 00:44 we started getting name brand-clients. 00:46 We started to, I personally started to establish a brand. 00:48

As a Beta Be Market is running a Demand Gen Agency as being asked to speak at different conferences. 00:52 And I gave everything I had to the business and when we want a new deal, 00:57 I was happy. 01:01 When we met a revenue goal I was happy. 01:01 And so there were events, there were things that quote Unquote made me happy, 01:05 but there was a thing that was just gnawing at me is. 01:09

That, it was never enough and the real questions that I should have been asking, do I have joy contentment. 01:12 And peace and if you would ask me that 5 years ago, 01:18 wherefrom all appearances. 01:22 I had hit. 01:22 The entrepreneurial jackpot our agency made 2 in 5000 awards if you're not familiar with what those are those are. 01:25 Awards were given to the fastest growing companies privately held companies in the country. 01:33

I had written a book in 2015, 01:39 which came out as an Amazon number. 01:41 Number one new release but if you ask me about joy contentment and peace. 01:43 and if I was willing, to be honest with you at that point. 01:47 I would've had to answer now. 01:50 I would have had to tell you that I don't have joy. 01:52 I don't have contentment. 01:54 I don't have peace because. 01:54 No matter the success that I had it was never enough and what I started to find is that I was becoming quite. 01:56
