About speakers

I currently serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of Nasdaq. In this role, I am responsible for overseeing all of the company’s business segments with a focus on driving efficiency, product development, growth and expansion.
Prior to rejoining Nasdaq, I was Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group from March 2011 to June 2014. As CFO, I had the unique opportunity to take the company public, showing me what it felt like to be a listing prospect, pursued for our IPO listing.
Before Carlyle, I was part of Nasdaq's management team for over a decade, serving in a variety of roles including head of the data products business, head of corporate strategy, and Chief Financial Officer. I have an MBA from Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, Tennessee and a B.A. in political science from Williams College in Massachusetts.
David Gelles writes the “Corner Office” column and other features for The New York Times (NYT) Sunday Business section and works with the Well team to expand the paper’s coverage of meditation. A reporter for NYT since 2013, Gelles has written about mergers and acquisitions, media, technology, and more for the paper. Before joining NYT, he was a reporter for the Financial Times in New York and San Francisco. While at FT, he conducted an exclusive jailhouse interview with Bernard L. Madoff. Gelles is the author of Mindful Work: How Meditation Is Changing Business from the Inside Out, which was published in 2015 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
