A good afternoon everyone. Hopefully you guys have had your fill of caffeine and cupcakes, but we'll be sure not to put you to sleep. Welcome to send 00:04 117 Journey to the cloud on Andy Leung and I am joined by some very esteemed guests first ladies at least secure video from 00:14 Citrix is product management team and also all the way from South Africa direct Skippers who heads it operations 00:24 from PPS professional Provident Society. So the session is going to be one where we take a look into the Journey of 00:34

PPS towards sd-wan and how that intersected with Cloud as well as security and so what we're going to do is basically have a 00:44 dialogue that goes into what Derek's experience was and we'll talk about some of the highlights along the way. And before we get into 00:53 the details here, I am obligated to put up this disclaimer that any capabilities or features that are mentioned here may be subject to change. 01:03 So changes at hand in every industry even in the financial services and insurance industry. What we're finding is that 01:14

organizations are be being disrupted digital is driving more agility. Organizations have to do more faster be more profitable 01:22 expand into new markets, but in the financials, it's historically been very risk-averse. So when it comes to technology, it's generally let's take 01:32 things at a very tepid paste. However, what we found it in the past decade or so the pace of innovation has really accelerated. You've got a new 01:41 generation of users and consumers with changing demographics and they're basically saying I want everything right now on demand. I want it 01:51

personalized contextualize. I wanted multi-channel and other words deliver my loan approvals. My documentation is my services on mobile as well as web 02:00 and get away from that Old traditional pay. Bass mode of doing business. So what is this mean what Gartner actually says that 02:10 in financials only about 50% of organizations have embarked on a true digital Journey, but one third of all 02:20 those cio's actually state that this is a huge imperative for the year 2019 and so obviously as organization such as PPS need to run 02:30

faster leaner grow into new areas and innovate the network plays a critical role as some of you may be going through this today. 02:39 You're seeing a convergent of Technology at the branch or the wind Edge. And so you're dealing with silos of Technology routing security when 02:49 optimization applications. How do you bring all this together? We're clearly seeing a trend towards a sand cloud. And so what a typical Enterprise 02:58 running and managing over hundreds of SAS application. How do you integrate that with a r? Placement transform Network as 03:07

organizations expand the network into the cloud. How do you protect not just the network but also the cloud assets how do you protect applications and 03:17 users? And so that's what we're going to look a little bit more closely out today. But we're finding is that these three migrations or 03:26 Transformations? If you will are not independent, in fact, they're very critically interdependent. So I'm going to roll a video just to give you 03:33 an overview now into who PPS review into a company's physical 03:43

traits differently from other financial institutions. So, how does it work? 03:50 When you take out insurance you pay a premium amount of the premium from your benefit and pot is a profit margin for the company as a policyholder. 04:00 You receive the benefits should you need to claim in a typical list of company profits go to external shareholders TDN and breezes and 04:09 which means that it exists solely for the benefit of its members and redistribute 100% rule out profits amongst members with qualifying product PDS 04:18

for professionals since 1941. Okay, Derek over to you. How about giving us an overview into the business of pts 04:28 and the customer base that you guys serve? Thanks, Andy covid-19 41 by a 04:38 group of dances to one specific product for the healthiest Society since they moved into a business that look off the professionals. You have to be a 04:48 degree to individual to be able to get one of our products. We the largest insurance company in Africa with the ethos of mutuality. 04:56

We here on your shell a profit with a mess into a profit Share account with him. We have about 25 officers spread across 05:05 South Africa in the movie business operating in Australia through these businesses. We we also have 05:15 four different areas of the business. We've got the PBS Insurance business news of their life life insurance and product run that we are previous 05:24 Investments, which is investment. I'm about business. We have to pay a short-term lease look out the short-term insurance and then we've got the 05:34

medical ID program it which is looking off the professionals with medical needs as we have to say. I'm in PBS insurance. We have 05:42 roughly about 250,000 members and being part of us in the inverse inspires. You have a 30000 clients in invested in that spice. 05:51 I'm being this type of business with one side of the investment demand the other side. We have insurance insurance on WE 06:02 struggled a little around connectivity win-win. All Broncos have this this habit of submissive. 06:11

Okay says that they that they are things just like any Commission on under eyes. Doing this. The nasal couldn't keep up with 06:21 all the larger people donate filled with wolves that people connecting a designs on the amount of processing that happened and we struggled in that 06:31 since we used to run at mpls haven't spoke with a single broken breakout and the different offices needs to connect to the device into the last hosted 06:38 at a height of a salmon in the basement. International we we we strive to 270 06:48

members. Will you be selling this for MMS? Thanks Derek and talk to us for a moment about the physical footprint of pp Austin terms of the number of 06:58 locations number of branches that you guys actually serve from the net worth of point of view in the 07:06 office to 600 officer is all different types of needs that these offices as we have opposite side of the Border like in the movie Witches 07:16 country just north of South Africa specific needs to get back to do dinosaur every way that that isn't that used to live 07:25

on before we embarked on a journey great. And so from a technology stamp you talked about mpls, but I think a lot of the audience understand some of 07:35 the limitations associated with it up. Did you also encounter performance problems for the applications with air quality challenges above? Just the 07:43 fact that mpls is expensive difficult to provision. Maybe give us some perspective on that be great. 07:52 When we didn't get proper steps from the provider. We we we head out to just 07:57

be a slow connection speeds from old office is not nothing. Just as for once it's one of those but each and every office even though some of the 08:07 bigger ones I finished inches, especially around Mountain but 08:15 it just wasn't made for us and then we 08:19 couldn't pinpoint where the problem was. We couldn't be proactive in France. They resolve his full full day for the office stop and get them to really 08:29 do what they need to do and see if you have also had virtual apps and desktops running in the data center as well. So I imagine there were some 08:36

challenges associated with running that over mpls. Yes. Absolutely. Driving distance was installed in in 08:43 Madera Center office in Johannesburg and everybody at the clinic back today with everybody trying to do what they need to do at a 08:53 specific game on tonight. I keep forgetting about them cuz I was a big is fine. But especially using the performance just be greater than the guys 09:03 couldn't actually is that because I couldn't get it on on to the site until applications. We just couldn't get it right 09:11

the perfect setup for SD win. And so as you looked at transitioning to Legacy Network away from hub-and-spoke away from mpls to 09:20 one that was more when I was more distributed based on software-defined wide area networking. What were some of the criteria involved in 09:29 why you looked at St. Went above and beyond just getting away from mpls. So you're not forgot about the mandates to 09:39 become a class into company that gave us two years to get that done. We knew that if we wanted to go to sleep. Mpls was not the type of network that 09:49

we could use and it's not Saturday Network single bracket. We had to go back to a single point the right cat optimal we start 09:58 looking at new technologies what we can use and then we investigate a couple a couple of options and even they see when spice we we decided insurance 10:08 that doesn't cause of the Hawaii the device manages the notebook the wild things are already built into the device my ID stuff done have to go and sit 10:17 and watch lines all the time and talk to Packet Tracer and see where it where the problem is is they can get onto the device in device tells you this 10:26

is what my problem is that I can go and I can fix this right? Yes. It's important to have a replacement transport net 10:33 worth it in the end of the day. It's really about the experience. It's all about allowing applications of run better and faster ultimately to make 10:43 customers more productive. And actually this just came out on the wire today. Really exciting PPS as an innovator for having migrated 10:50 see that Citrix virtual apps and desktops not only away from the data center but to Google cloud and so in line with some of the announcements we 10:59

heard this morning during the Keynotes lpps is one of those Leading Edge companies who's actually taken that jump into one getting onto gcp 11:07 and secondly also as I understand looking at a multi Cloud strategy further down the road as well as well as we talked about applications and the 11:17 importance of that Eliza maybe if you can give us some perspective as far as the way we've designed rst ran out with an application first perspective 11:25 some point of view on that would be great is out in infrastructure that gives them the 11:35

scalability and the flexibility to use multiple type type of transport multiple different deployment styles. 11:45 Etsy winds hours do in offers on top of that application experience and reliability that go 11:54 with it and like PPS to read embrace the cloud and its Embrace different type of applications including see that we have 12:04 our design of relies on my features that are really designed to avoid Uber subscription 12:13 in band band with waist. Like she was excited to us. We also have packets duplication to be able to 12:23

provide the best application experience for lost sensitive applications. We have metrics on a four pack a basic 12:33 vases to really decide where to send the traffic to do react very fast link brown outs, and we have a very 12:43 fast Failover one of the best in the industry to provide the reliability on top of that when it comes to see that traffic like 12:53 Derek explain. We also apply all these benefits not just today HDs accession, but we are able to pry it open and 13:02

assign priorities and Key West today in her channels and that makes a lot of difference in the way at the application experience works for sale ad 13:12 benefited from those capabilities. In fact, that was one of the major criteria that he has had looked at 13:21 when they evaluated SD when the ability to do almost instantaneous link failover to basically ensure that that experience and the 13:30 applications are continuous. As soon as I was going to go fast with experience on the NBA's we knew when we no longer than it can take up to 20 13:40

minutes $10,000 for the second me to pick up for the criteria. And then one of the most critical facts was the liquid vitamin and we have 13:49 the multi routine that we have. We we we decided on that model bb have two different service providers with two different fiber rings does ingenuous 13:59 outside of the office. So we we completely dry and Limonite upright Gateway one level. Down and then grab us some lines down because of that. It is a 14:07 process. They say the absolutely critical was the final and under the fact that I can use Bus Lines Just in traffic u.s. Ambassadors build a package 14:16

without us out again and and just carry on don't sing or introducing that actually helps drive a better application performance. 14:26 A wide range of appliances that constitute our Appliance portfolio we go from the very small branch that you can appliance 14:42 using our 6100 which is what not complimenting a Datacenter Appliance for folio for 14:51 organization that need to be able to scale up to 20 gig of encrypted traffic great. Now that's far we haven't talked about security 15:01

and that was one of my points initially Derek how important was that as you looked at switching over from mpls to SD win? So with embellished this 15:11 gives you an easy. He had a single breaker unit 1.2 control into the fact that a creditor bigger texture of us because we wanted to break out each of 15:20 his from from from the office just to eliminate the extra probably need to travel to the single black actor was one of the key features, but you 15:30 looked at when we decided on another technology great. I don't Lisa what's your perspective on what other components of security from an end-to-end 15:39

perspective that enterprises all to consider when they switch over to SD went additional is implemented 15:47 but with introduction of direct internet breakout as Derek mentioned you need to make security acute requirement in 15:56 your design. In fact as you break out locally from the branch of from The Edge now you have a 16:06 surface immediately increases and Stop can come in. So you need to implement security very close to the Potential Threat entry 16:15 point. And so whether you embrace it cloud service or whether you want to run it security 16:25

unfriend, you need to have the flexibility to be able to integrate seamlessly Security in your SD went through automation 16:34 through Simplicity and also through various deployments ties with a huge cloud or on time and with the flexibility to embracing a 16:44 different vendor the vendors in the ecosystem that when it comes to Security benefits fit your needs 16:54 is not a one-size-fits-all 17:01 and it has to be considering they lay your approach. So when it comes to Citrix, we do take security very seriously by Provo. Adding a 17:10

different models and different ways to Whelan Security in SD win. First of all, we give with partner with a 17:20 different vendors. We partner with descaler with partner with Palo Alto for cloud services, but we also provide 17:29 automation so that you don't have to swim around and manually go set up a cloud service or an on-time Appliance. We do that for you 17:38 in an automated fashion through simple. Click chihuahua rescue in orchestrator have been able to benefit from this 17:48

automation that Citrix is actually built between a teste one and zscaler the secure internet gateway as an example of 17:57 the season yet your security state 18:05 record from the office of the office worker that it will list. Does the traffic to to that the data scientist 18:11 that we have a great and so at least I know we've also got some new capabilities. We're announcing this week with respect to 18:21 Palo Alto networks. Maybe you can share a little bit about that as well as 18:31

the word Palo Alto both on the couch side as well as a to offer on Prime as a 18:40 security with now what I see when Appliance we are automated connectivity to Palo Alto globalprotect to through Palo Alto globalprotect 18:50 you a way to set up and enforce security policies Centre for all users or all locations 19:00 and a we automate the setup of the tunnels to Palo Alto globalprotect seamlessly through our thing. I noticed 19:09 Where are so very proud to announce that we are extending that partnership with Palo Alto by enabling our 1100 19:19

Appliance to be able to run Palo Alto security work clothes on Prime right on our Appliance. And with that we 19:29 want you to offer the flexibility to our customers to choose between a cloud model X vs. Model 19:39 is if they decide to do so, but we also want to keep a Automation and simplicity top of Mind by 19:49 allowing the provisioning of the Palo Alto software Century to all the branches 19:58 that are part of the deployment to a couple of simple simple click to receive an orchestrator with that. We still want to maintain 20:08

networking and security party. Management separation and we do that on purpose because oftentimes organizations and it teams 20:16 look for that ability to keep a networking management separated from Farwell and Security Management. And we do that by a 20:26 fully embracing Panorama de Palo Alto management tool for our Security Management on day eleven hundred times 20:36 about our focuses on automation. We actually believe in making I T 20:46 Test eliminating that swivel chair capability just making things easier. And so what we do today is we have the ability to actually automate spin-up 20:56

of instances in the cloud. We have the ability to do zero-touch provisioning at the branch and clearly for security services and moving forward more 21:05 cloud services as well or focused or approaches really just giving that mulch Quick Simplicity from or orchestration service in Tok this is something 21:14 we're proud to introduce that's available not just to service providers but also for Enterprise customers as well and it's consumable via Citrix 21:23 cloud. And so Derek, it's been a relatively fast Journey for PPS to migrate towards St. Ran 21:32

into the cloud. Obviously for organizations to do this. You've got to have a business case. You don't do it for technology sake you really want to 21:42 make sure that there is some are alive that you've got the right TCL model associated with migration SE when taught us a little bit about what PPL 16 21:51 in the 10 months or so that you've had this world out. Chinese Li Hua during the business Kaiser and the study on this we we predicted to have 12 22:00 months. After that. We will be able to make our return. We got me sitting in Monson and I'm confident that we will leave the ri 22:09

before I even get it into myself. It's been amazing journey is just so much money in the customer experience. 22:19 Well Infant Jesus just increased significantly. It just makes a formidable Force fantastic has 22:28 migrated to the clouds. So you've taken see bad into Google Cloud you have migrated some of your core CRM Erp 22:38 your insurance applications and move that to Google Cloud as well. What's next and how does that involve SD win? That's great. You're so 22:47 we decided we needed a performance 22:57

boost on a Tijuana precautions, which is our insurance application of cre in urine is CRM and Erp application. We decide to move that first 23:07 picture was a dangerous move from outside to to get that done. But we got it done in The Weeknd 23:16 the next things we need to do now is to move out business intelligence applications. We need to move that to the club as well 23:26 and then to three before a suit and we will probably be fully class intrigued by end of next year. That's wonderful 23:36

and some of your business critical applications are from Microsoft as well. Right? So from what I understand TPS is looking at a multi Cloud hybrid 23:45 Cloud approach where you start Which ECP but down the road considering also Microsoft Azure as well as 23:54 the one being that only we would like the 24:01 ability to be able to move around as we see fit way. We find the baseball glove fast will be so address on the cards and we currently moving some 24:11 applications international finance finance application money are people catching is going to to Azure at the moment. We we Market in that that one 24:20

day. I think I thought I would like to be able to move between GDP and Azure seamlessly Amana believe Google has launched a application and toes and 24:30 tip the same thing where you can move between these different Cloud spices some terms of the application experience. What has a feedback Ben 24:38 from the employees who have been on this network has it we have a mange the way they can access files and resources. Absolutely. We haven't much 24:48 happy. Hello. I'm people used to trade zone on the Olympia Lacey dies when put the directions in the house. Please return to her because I knew you 24:56

was going to be slower than you going to struggle to open applications and even just logging on to Tim 15 minutes. Sometimes I want to work. 25:03 Some of the guys can work from home. We can just give him a special station on to Seabeck Seabeck and People are chasing Jerry more sensible to do 25:13 what I can for them at the moment wonderful wonderful any additional perspective from you Lisa. What you seen with PPS and how that aligns with our 25:22 other customers and what they're looking at us. So definitely PPS is a great example because they find benefits in pretty much 25:31

all the things that we do. So when it comes to choose SFU inventors organization needs to keep in 25:40 mind several things, of course, they have the agility and the flexibility to choose between different appointment modest and transport the application 25:50 experience and the resiliency of the deployment, but they need to make sure that there's a good Roi 26:00 and they Embrace and mother that allows them to keep Capital expenses as well as ongoing costing check and I believe that. 26:10

Has demonstrated that that's 26:20 so first of all 26:21 Securities not a one-size-fits-all feet all and so does flexibility of being able to choose an employment model whether he's on 26:31 cloud and on-premise whether it is a security vendor off of your choice where you can 26:41 easily fit into our security. I want to see one solution into a security system that you already already have those 26:50 who one of the key flexibility choices that we gave to you. Great esoteric, maybe 27:00

something's up and turns of your 10 to 12 my journey with SV wehen and clouds. It's probably fair to say you guys had a strong return-on-investment 27:09 couple with application experience that really drove productivity. Like like I said, we will be getting it. All right within the twelvemonth. 27:19 We have evolved to improve the experience and use experience we can now seeing people looking to I'm working from album keeping them eventual station 27:28 people anywhere in the world can just use any any type of device on that and you can stop and then applications and keep company working. That's 27:38

great. That's great. And so something else we may have heard this morning and the keynote is that rst, when is a key part of Citrix 27:48 mayonnaise desktops? And again taking the Citrix on Citrix approach. What we do is we actually automate some of the capabilities for Citrix managed 27:58 desktop stand. As a administrator is going through the provisioning and setup process for CMD on SD. When is just a matter of click to 28:07 provision as part of that process and so talking about to give me the automation Elisa alluded to we've actually made it that much easier where we can 28:16

actually spin up AV PX Ft. Wayne Appliance with an Azure as part of that process. And so again same seamless experience for customers who are familiar 28:26 with Citrix cloud and the same benefits associated with us steel and carry over to that model as well as the weather. Your connections are between 28:35 the data center and the cloud and Azure or between the branch and Azure. We're basically providing those highly resiliency connections with all the 28:45 performance the visibility the application visibility and so everything that our customers are familiar with between a branch in a Datacenter extend 28:55

out to the Azure Cloud as well in the CMD or Windows Virtual. Stop contacts out something else that our customers have been asking us for for a long 29:03 time is ok Citrix. You guys can get me connected to IRS in Paz if I want to go to a shirt. That's great. You give me all those crate reliability 29:13 capabilities all the visibility into my applications. But what if I'm connecting to work day or to another salesforce.com or is CRM Erp 29:22 application? I obviously can't deploy another SD win Appliance virtual or physical in front of a sap Cloud just due to the fact of the way there are 29:32

protected. And so what we are going to make generally available in the next couple weeks is what we're calling our Cloud direct service. And so 29:42 essentially what we're giving customers is the ability to connect you all these popular SAS applications. In fact thousands of them through 29:50 currently 10 points of presents and this is going to expand a very rapidly but basically work Customers ability to get the same level of 30:00 resiliency performance and visibility connecting to the staff services. And so stay tuned for more information about this coming short. The 30:10

last point about this is its automated from where orchestration service. So in the same vein as what Eliza referred to with security services in some 30:20 of these other capabilities in the branch and data center. We're actually automating connections to This Cloud direct Service as well. And so that's 30:29 what we had to share with you today. It was really a perspective into the experience of PPS. We trust you guys found that's a useful and 30:39 you know, there's there's information. We want to make sure that these sessions meet the mark for you. So please take a second to provide your 30:49

feedback and rating we've got many more sdn sessions the come over the next couple days. And so these are essentially a sampling of what's to come. 30:57 We've got other breakout sessions with customers, especially in the healthcare area. And also we've got some fireside chat with a notable customer 31:06 such as eBay tomorrow. And other than that, I appreciate everyone's time. We can open it up for Q&A at this point. 31:15 Demos. India security 31:23 is featuring there too. If you're interested and that you would work would like to walk around will be happy to walk you through some of our great. 31:33

Okay. All right. 31:51 Yep, you're free to step up with my sir. Hi, thank you much for the information 32:01 security functionality Palo Alto for your 32:09 initial and offerings. Do you have any plans for a parking with checkpoint or 48 in subsequent month? 32:19 We started off with Palo Alto but we really want to have a echo system of third-party 32:25 vendors that we partner with some of the vendors to mention our in our Pipeline and we are definitely eager to work with you. If you have 32:35

suggestions on what vendors will make a difference in your add appointment with a view to 32:44 test-drive for exam for the virtual SVU on Circle in the car just now to see the vehicle performance behaviors 32:54 with a part. Different design of an subscriber. Let's talk about that. We we do have those capabilities. 33:03 We haven't exactly productize those and so we'd be happy to work with you. Okay? Well, we hope you guys have a good rest of synergy and 33:12 we'll see you at the booth. 33:22
