Patrick Kirby is the founder of Do Good Better Consulting, author of the Amazon best seller Fundraise Awesomer! a practical guide to staying sane while doing good, host of the official Do Good Better podcast, and a believer that “We’ve always done it this way” is the most dangerous phrase in the English language. Patrick has spent nearly fifteen years working as a fundraiser in the nonprofit industry, for organizations of all shapes and sizes, and strives to ‘Do Good Better’ every day. From organizing $10,000 cure walks to $1 million galas, Patrick’s passion lies in creating creative solutions to make fundraising less boring. He earned his B.A. in “B.S.” (politics) at Loras College in Dubuque, IA, and is hopelessly addicted to super nerdy Sci-Fi Fantasy novels and old school Squaresoft® RPG Nintendo games. Patrick married out of his league to his wife Shannon, has three ridiculously adorable children named Spencer, Preston and Willow, and l ives in West Fargo, ND.View the profile

I love it. All right, so we have some time in between now and our next guest and we like to call this midday Q&A. So if you have questions that you have been gearing up to ask and you have things that you need to have answers. We've been collecting them all day. We're going to ask them and we're going to answer them live on the air for you. So take questions, whatever questions we can ask it questions regardless of whether you think it should or not. This is going to be
super great. Let's go she'll be all right. So the first question that we got earlier today and get type of in the comments will answer today. One of the first questions that we got is what do we ask for? If not for money? Would you question okay, one of the things that I think individuals to work at the non-profit world or who trying to fundraise for is they are constantly seeking constantly seeking money money on me and it's not necessarily what you need to ask for. If your board of directors or your
executive director says I need you to go out and raise nothing but money do nothing else. You could call call you guys be on a phone all day in a phone bank and just maybe ask for donations. That's great, but it's not going to help you sustain your growth for the rest of Eternity what you're missing here is building relationships and I hope it's art of making sure that you feel and you know that this is the most important thing to do the time you spend curating and building relationships across the board exponentially more important than just money
