About the talk

Hear the story of why Honest Buildings, a technology purpose-built for Owners, merged with Procore, a software built historically for general contractors and specialty contractors. Together, they formed a complete platform that connects everyone involved in the construction process. Today, increasingly complex construction processes have made investment in technology more important than ever. But not all technology is created equal. Learn about the importance for owners to invest in unified platforms that are built for real people, configurable to the needs of each stakeholder, and connected to other applications seamlessly.

Alright. Hi everyone. My name is Riggs Kubiak I'm currently the Senior Vice President of Owner Strategy for Procore Technologies. And before that. I Founded a tech start-up in New York City called Honest Buildings. And before that, I worked for 10 years in the commercial real estate arena. 1st in Investment Banking and then worked at Tishman Speyer for five years doing acquisitions and asset management. And then I ran the global sustainability initiative there and at the whole, you know to run from the sort of starting in New York as an analyst all the way through working at

at Tishman Speyer. I just loved real estate and I also wondered where is the technology every day it felt like we would go to work and use Excel and in construction or operations, you're really using, you know binders of paper stacked up on your desk and a lot of people are still faxing documents around and I just couldn't believe that there are 10 trillion dollars a year spent in construction in the built environment and the Really the smartest people in the world don't have access to technology built for them. And these are the people that are building the world. So in

2012, we founded Honest Buildings and set out to ideally have an impact on the world of construction in the way that developers owners operators can really be built and what we did look a lot like that which was started from nothing. This is a picture of our very first office in the Woolworth Building in Manhattan, obviously before we even moved in but a lot of the ride and building on his buildings felt like that. So it was sort of making your way in very uncharted territory and many times sort of felt like you were going at it alone. Most of the best venture

capitalist said this will never work construction will never change the real estate industry is never going to change your reality, you know up for an uphill ride, and I just thought wow, these are supposed to be the smartest or the most innovative people on the planet, you know, maybe I made the wrong
