Hello and welcome everyone, I hope all of you are happy and healthy. My name is Martin Kloss and on behalf of Union Investment and GermanTech. I want to welcome you to the fourth Proptech Innovation Summit 2020 and our first online edition of The Summit. The pandemic has turned all of our lives upside down and we're all challenged to balance work and private lives in this very strange new world and we can't do a live event and meet all of you in person this year, but we are convinced that networking of
proptech and established players are now more urgent than ever and we've had so many amazing startups participating in our competition this year and we identified the top 18 international proptechs as finalists so we decided not to cancel but to turn it into a digital an online event and use this as an opportunity to keep exploring the future of the real estate industry with you to share and discuss all of the these innovative ideas and topics. Now, I want to start by introducing and welcoming the host of our event, the CEO of Union Investment Real Estate
Jörn Stobbe and GermanTech Founder and Chairman of the Board Benjamin Rohe. How are you guys? I'm okay strange times. Thank you. I'm well. Thank you. Hope you're too, the weather looks nice Looking back at 4 years of this Innovation Summit. What did you learn along the way? The most important thing is that I've learned that is not sufficient to have a brilliant idea. You need to address clients needs and even better client's pains and honestly, they were
little pains in the industry. So no vacancy high prices everything again, and I think now is the time there is some pain let's go for it. Thanks. So speaking of the competition the jury has nominated the best 18 proptechs for the big final now, why did you decide to make them all winners without the pitches this year? I think that is not the time for eating competitors. It's more about survival honestly, and it's more about alliances and partnerships and corporations
I just said we are so happy to have so many competitors here now, we are so happy to have chosen the finalists. And I think it's absolutely fair to share the prize among those. Now, Benjamin, you have a deep inside into the German as well as the international Tech and startups scene. What's going on there at the moment? How's the mood? Well, I mean in every crisis is also a big opportunity and being around since the late 90s seem quite so I think sustainability and digital transformation have played even more of a key role in traditional Industries. And so many people working
remotely and conferences like this happening remotely. I think it's important that you can watch and and particularly the proptech sector among many other industries will benefit from this crisis. What do you think are the new changes and as well as the challenges in the collaboration between the startups and the established industry. There is a lot of pain. Everyone has identified an urgent need to change. This is a huge opportunity now to team up. A challenge maybe it's that there are no sufficient budgets any more but that is exactly what we need to address
and to discuss and as Benjamin just pointed out I think sustainability will be another driver for all these changes. So this will accelerate the entire process. Benjamin, do you share this point of view? Absolutely, I think that DNA of every startup always have been struggling with new upcoming situation acting really fast pivoting to new propositions or new ideas and this is also where the traditional industry and the startups can collaborate more and learn from each other and the startups can lead the way through changes much faster and dealing with them to
come out of this on a very positive means. Now the last question to you both starting with you Benjamin. What are you looking forward to for today? I am what are your expectations? Well, I think the first of all it's very unique to have such an event in a way we designed it now. To see that this is working to see if it's a success. I think it's crucial and also to bring even more people together. The Tripoli could not be in the Berlin attending this conference
to see that happening is very interesting and satisfying thing. To take something positive for the conference and the award out of the undergoing crisis. Jörn, what do you think. New ideas new corporations Union Investments is ready to team up with you. Alright, so let's get started and let's go quickly through our agenda and the take a look at the features of this wonderful talk event app. I hope that all of you had the chance to maybe go over a few of the features. Since we don't have our usual pitch
contest this year. We decided to do think tank sessions for each award category or we will Deep dive into a topic without finalists and international experts and partners and at 3:15 right after this introduction and we will start our three parallel 45 minutes sessions. So you will have to decide which is the most interesting to you at this moment. But no don't worry. We will record all the sessions so you can keep them on that. You can watch them later on. If you missed some of the Cry of the sessions and during the session, you can also use the
chat which you can see on top of your browser. To ask questions and talk to the other participants after this first round of think-tank sessions. We will have 50 minutes and then we will start into the second round of Think Tank session and then again select the thinking statue by just writing on it and you will see the video feed right there in your browser. We recommend using Chrome or Firefox because of both of the best working process. We cannot guarantee if it works on all the boys. I've tested it with the Safari and it looks good on
Safari, but just to be sure Chrome and Firefox day work best and then if I can we will exclusively present on your own Investments digital ecosystem a new platform providing Innovative services for tenants, which is open for projects and players in Industries. And then stay tuned for an interview with a member of the management Board of ongoing invest in Pennsville him and then at 5:15 p.m. We will all get together at a think tank session moderators together and I'll to host your own and Benjamin's for wrap-up session and talk about
