About the talk
Battery-Electric technology is increasingly being considered as an alternative to conventional diesel power for underground mobile mining equipment. Mining companies are enthusiastic to embrace the obvious benefits of an improved underground working environment but need to understand the options available for setting up a battery-electric mine and quantifying the differences and uncertainties. This presentation focuses on the key mine planning aspects to consider for assessing the potential of battery-electric equipment in underground mines.
01:30 Simple comparison of battery-electric to diesel mobile equipment
02:40 Snapshot of recent industry developments
03:21 Battery-electric equipment: considerations for mine planning
04:03 Mine ventilation
05:37 Simulation: the next stage of mine planning
06:08 GMG electric mine survey 2020
About speaker
Chris Bray BEng, MAusIMM(CP) has 23 years’ international experience, managing and contributing to a wide range of multidisciplinary technical mine studies, due diligence, operational support and international reporting projects. He has a strong operational background in underground and open pit mines and seeks to determine optimal and practical solutions for Clients based on their goals. In recent feasibility studies, Chris has worked with multidisciplinary teams to assess and understand the potential for battery-electric equipment on underground mining projects.
View the profileWe'll move on to the second presentation. Chris Bray is a principal in the UK and Chris is going to discuss planning for the use of factory electric equipment underground operations. So something the way saying a lot of interesting and I think if interested Okay. Thanks for the introduction. That's him is that this is why it's coming up. Okay. I would like to introduce you to some of that sings experience in planning for Metra Electric equipment in underground mines where we continue to develop abilities with the
progressive Technologies, in order to support mining companies better electric technology is increasingly being considered by mining companies as an alternative to Conventional Diesel power for underground mining equipment. And it's okay. Yes. I cut a group continues to develop and support money companies in the assessing the potential for battery-electric equipment with mine planning installation cost estimation and simulation capabilities srk is employee-owned independent Consulting Group with recent battery-electric experience on progestin up riding months, including the
Nordic region up to a feasibility level. A benefit of battery Electric Code with diesel equipment is a significant Improvement in the efficiency and production of heat generated by the mobile equipment. These figures has sores from the Lego Mining guidelines group and the APA figure and pays the efficiency of each component of the respective electrical and Diesel idle drives and the respective hate losses. A generation for battery-electric equipment is reported to be as low as 20% of cenla diesel equipment.
