About the talk
The Edge-to-cloud and IoT markets and technologies are rapidly advancing. To continue this accelerated pace, an industry ecosystem of visionaries, innovative technologies, and novel collaborative partnerships are essential. Dr. Tom will share his views on the set of new challenges associated with moving IoT and edge-to-cloud solutions forward — to deliver the next generation of business and societal outcomes.
In addition, Dr. Tom will host a panel discussion with experts from the IoT Community’s Diamond membership, who are contributing to a collaborative industry ecosystem necessary to advance the edge and IoT markets. Joining Dr. Tom (HPE), will be Amazon, Cisco, IBM, SAS, and Zebra.

About speakers
Dr. Sarah Cooper is AWS’s GM of IoT Solutions. With 15yrs experience building IoT devices and platforms, Sarah serves as vice chairwoman of the Internet of Things Community. Formerly, M2Mi’s Chief Operating Officer, responsible for engineering, business development and platform strategy, Sarah was named an IS 50 Most Empowering Women in Business, recognized Top 100 Wireless Technology Expert by Wireless World, a National Academy of Engineers Frontiers of Engineering Awardee, multidisciplinary entrepreneur, inventor of an IoT medical battery that runs on body temperature and a PhD in Physics from University of Sydney. Prior to M2Mi, Sarah founded and sold TE-Bio, an IoT device company, NaturalNano, a publically traded advanced nanomaterials company and conducted fundamental research at NASA and DoE.
View the profileVernon Turner is a 30-year global IT industry veteran having worked for several of the largest financial institutions in their IT and strategic planning groups. Vernon has also been one of the leading IT industry analysts having led research in all aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT). As a thought leader and visionary, Vernon is well known for his candid views and provocative presentations on stage, television and social media. Vernon’s accolades include being IDC’s first research fellow (for the Internet of Things), consistently ranked in the global Top 100 IoT Influencers (by the IoTCommunity.net), and is a board member for several IoT industry consortia.
View the profileJerry Baulier is the Vice President of IOT R&D, who joined SAS in early 2010 to lead & champion the build-out of event stream processing (also known as Complex Event Processing, CEP, and ESP). He recently was also given R&D responsibility for the Internet of Things. ESP brings SAS analytics & learning models into the stream on premise, in the cloud, and at the edge (for IOT). Prior to joining SAS, Jerry was the CTO and VP of R&D at Aleri for 7 years where they built the Aleri CEP (now owned by SAP) and solutions utilizing it for capital markets. Previously, Jerry was an Executive Vice President of Technology & Engineering at Required Technologies, where he led the technical efforts to productize a next generation columnar-based analytical data warehouse. He also spent 14 years at Lucent Technologies (formerly AT&T), where he was a Director in the Information Sciences Research Center of Bell Laboratories, as well as the Managing Director for Lucent’s Software Products BU’s Joint Development & Delivery Center. At Bell Labs, Jerry focused on real-time information systems including real-time persistent storage managers and real-time event processing engines. Jerry’s work on event stream processing has resulted in 15 awarded patents and half a dozen pending patents. He has a graduate degree in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology and an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts.
View the profileDr. Tom Bradicich is Vice President, Hewlett Packard Fellow, and Global Head of Edge and IoT Labs & CoE, at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). He and his team develop and commercialize advanced connectivity, compute, and controls software, with a focus on AI, WiFi, 5G, and converged IT/Operational Technologies (OT). Tom directs the Edge & IoT Center of Excellence (CoE), leading company-wide strategies, venture/M&A assessments, and the HPE Channel-to-Edge Institute channel partner program. Recently Tom was HPE VP and General Manager, leading the global business unit, Servers, Edge & IoT Systems and Software, with P&L, worldwide sales, R&D, and customer experience ownership. In 2018, achieving revenue growth of over $250M, Tom’s business unit was the fastest growing in HPE. He directed the founding of HPE’s three global IoT Innovation Labs for partner and customer collaborations, and led HPE’s first corporate IoT strategy. His teams are noted for exceeding sales quotas, and delivering first-of-a-kind products that greatly enhance customer business outcomes. Tom serves on the Board of Directors of Aspen Technology, a publicly traded AI and OT software company. Beginning his career at IBM, Tom was an IBM Fellow, Vice President, Distinguished Engineer, and Server CTO. Prior to HPE, Tom was a Corporate Fellow and officer at National Instruments, an Operational Technolgies (OT) company.
