About speakers
Brendan Wallace is a co-founder and Managing Partner at Fifth Wall, where he guides the firm’s strategic vision. Prior to starting Fifth Wall, Brendan co-founded Identified, a workforce optimization data and analytics company that raised $33 million of venture funding and was acquired by Workday (NYSE: WKDY) in 2014. He also co-founded Cabify, the largest ridesharing service in Latin America, and has been an active investor, leading more than 60 angel investments including Bonobos, Dollar Shave Club, Lyft, SpaceX, Clutter, and Philz Coffee. Brendan started his career at Goldman Sachs in the real estate, hospitality, and gaming group before joining The Blackstone Group’s real estate private equity practice. Brendan is from New York City and currently lives in Venice. He graduated from Princeton University, where he received his BA in political science and economics. He received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

He is also a contributor to Bloomberg Green where he writes frequently on energy, transport, technology, and finance. He is a regular commentator on Bloomberg TV and has been cited in the New York Times, The Economist, Technology Review and Scientific American. He is also a regular presenter to corporate boards of directors and industry associations on energy, commodities, and climate issues. He is a member of U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Climate-Related Market Risk Subcommittee. He received a Master's Degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in International Policy (Energy track) and International Economics, and an ABmagna cum laude from Harvard University. He is based in Washington, D.C. and was previously based in Hong Kong and San Francisco.
View the profileThank you so much for joining. It's a pleasure to talk to you this afternoon. Thank you for having me, Brendan. It's good to be here. Can you just give your background obviously, as you know Chief Content Officer for any apps and just how your career has marched to the sustainability space I'm the Chief Content Officer at BloombergNEF so I covered clean energy recovery energy transition transportation industry power generation things of that nature. We have a pretty broad stroke looking at Broad scope looking across the transition in all of these big
sectors. I come to this as somebody who right out of college moved to the Middle East. I move to Egypt to a rapidly developing country with underneath all of its human capital formation fundamental needs for things in energy and transportation to build environment agriculture and things like that. I'm going to do a couple of things in between that and my graduate-school time, but I went ahead in my head but there was this fundamental layer of improvement in the physical world that we can have it and if we made it really needs to be optimized over time. It
was very clear at that point even fifteen years ago, but that optimization been through a lower carbon footprint it meant ran through decarbonizing industries of transportation and electricity and when I had the opportunity to join a company that was looking at that of the research side, which I did it was a chance instead of ride along with us and hopefully to an extent help shape the way that developed as well. So yeah, I'm now part of this group or more than 200 people that were part of Bloomberg LP. So we're part of a much bigger company multiple thousands of people on top of that. I'm
