About speakers
Brendan Wallace is a co-founder and Managing Partner at Fifth Wall, where he guides the firm’s strategic vision. Prior to starting Fifth Wall, Brendan co-founded Identified, a workforce optimization data and analytics company that raised $33 million of venture funding and was acquired by Workday (NYSE: WKDY) in 2014. He also co-founded Cabify, the largest ridesharing service in Latin America, and has been an active investor, leading more than 60 angel investments including Bonobos, Dollar Shave Club, Lyft, SpaceX, Clutter, and Philz Coffee. Brendan started his career at Goldman Sachs in the real estate, hospitality, and gaming group before joining The Blackstone Group’s real estate private equity practice. Brendan is from New York City and currently lives in Venice. He graduated from Princeton University, where he received his BA in political science and economics. He received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
View the profileSylvain Fortier is responsible for developing and executing strategies enabling Ivanhoé Cambridge to provide strong, innovative real estate investment leadership. To that end, he identifies new ideas by focusing on emerging trends, technological advances, innovative designs and needs generated by urbanization or by future users of space. His mandate also includes oversight of global investment funds. Mr. Fortier sits on the Board of Directors of Otéra Capital, a major commercial mortgage lender, and is also a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Strategy and Investment Committee of Gecina, Europe’s largest office real estate investment trust, in which Ivanhoé Cambridge has a substantial investment. Mr. Fortier joined Ivanhoé Cambridge’s parent company, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, in 2004 as Vice President, Asset Management, of Cadim. He was then put in charge of SITQ’s office building portfolio in the United States. In August 2010, he became Ivanhoé Cambridge’s Vice President, Advisory and Real Estate Strategy. In April 2011, he was appointed head of the Company’s newly formed residential business unit, which grew significantly under his leadership. Mr. Fortier has more than 30 years of experience in real estate investment and financing involving various asset types. you and the company across many different business segments think about sustainability and how it integrates into what you do. So my title is that Chief Investment and Innovation Officer, and so we decided about 18 months ago that ESG and what we refer to hear as corporate social responsibility and I'll come back to it in a minute, but we feel like its very much part of investment today and I real estate investment where they're real estate arm we have I think we have an important social role to be like in on this topic it
