About speaker
Melanie joined the British Property Federation in 2015, following nine years as Director General of the Food and Drink Federation. Melanie began her working life as a Police Constable in the Metropolitan Police Service. She joined HM Customs in 1988 and subsequently held senior roles in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Office of the Rail Regulator and the Cabinet Office. Her role is to champion UK real estate and to promote a sustainable partnership between governments and the sector to deliver a high quality built environment.
View the profileI'm Melanie Leech Chief Executive of the British Property Federation and I'm just going to close the conference with a few reflections on some of the section that I've been involved in a little bit about What BPF is doing in response to some of the challenges, we've all been talking about. I guess what came through really clearly is that everybody who spoke at the conference believes in the imperative of taking action. Everybody believes in the importance of really rising to the sustainability challenge to the challenge to reach

And in many cases, people have talked about much more ambitious strategies and placed much more ambitious targets Everybody recognizes that the real estate in rising to the sustainability challenges is critical getting that we account for around about 40% of global carbon emissions.
